Â This collection of PRS s is just amazing and we re thrilled to have them all in our newly opened vintage room. Â Now when you go upstairs in the shop you ll be treated to some of the rarest PRS, Fender and Gibson guitars we ve ever been able to acquire. PRS Bass Info 2000-2004
PAUL REED SMITH GUITARS introduced the PRS ELECTRIC BASS in 2000 and around 72 were made in that first year. The overall style of the bass, with its bolt-on neck and flat fronted body, has been described by its designer Joe Knaggs as a combination of a Fender Jazz, a Music Man and a PRS bass. The swamp ash was initially available as a body wood option for these basses but otherwise they have alder bodies. They originally came with an LR Baggs piezo transducer and 3-band EQ, designed to complement the PRS Electric Basses conventional magnetic pickups, but this piezo system was dropped in 2002.
